Top 5 Neurodiversity Internships for Neurodivergent Students in 2026
Looking for an internship can feel overwhelming, especially when you are trying to find a place where you will be supported, understood, and given work that actually matters. A lot of internships promise “experience,” but not all of them are built with neurodivergent students in mind, with real mentorship, flexibility, and strengths-based learning.
The good news? More organizations are starting to change that. Here are our top 5 internship programs in 2026 for neurodivergent students.
5. General Dynamics Mission System
General Dynamics Mission Systems offers a paid summer neurodiversity internship designed for undergraduate students pursuing degrees in engineering, computer science, IT, and related technical fields. This 8–10 week, in-person program takes place across several U.S. locations; Scottsdale AZ, Pittsfield MA, Bloomington MN, Huntsville AL, and McLeansville, NC.
Interns work on real engineering and technology projects tied to mission-critical systems, gaining hands-on experience while receiving structured mentorship and coaching support through a partnership with BroadFutures.
This opportunity is ideal for students in STEM majors who are comfortable working on-site and are interested in applying their technical skills in a highly collaborative, real-world environment.
4. Goldman Sachs Neurodiversity Hiring Initiative
Goldman Sachs’ Neurodiversity Hiring Initiative includes a paid internship experience for individuals who identify as neurodivergent and have completed a bachelor’s degree. This 8–9 week program is primarily in-person at their offices in New York, Dallas, and Salt Lake City, and includes a structured virtual assessment and onboarding process prior to placement.
Interns gain exposure to corporate operations, finance, technology, and business services while participating in mentorship, professional development, and leadership sessions. This program is a strong fit for recent graduates who are interested in corporate careers and want experience navigating large professional environments with built-in support.
3. BroadFutures Internship Program
BroadFutures is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping neurodivergent young adults ages 18–26 gain meaningful, paid work experience through highly supported internships. Their Washington, D.C.–based programs combine professional training, coaching, peer support, and real workplace placements across fields such as policy, communications, STEM, hospitality, arts, and nonprofit work.
Current enrollment opportunities include the DC Summer 2026 Internship Program and the DC Winter 2027 Internship Program. Interns receive stipends equal to at least the Washington, D.C. minimum wage, reinforcing BroadFutures’ commitment to equitable, paid learning experiences.
This program is an excellent option for students who benefit from structured support, in-person workplace exposure, and guided professional development in a wide range of career paths.
2. Stanford University’s Zavikon Neurodiversity Internship
Through Stanford’s Neurodiversity in IT initiative, the Zavikon Internship Program places neurodivergent individuals into supported professional roles across California. Zavikon, an employment partner, conducts assessments and matches candidates with positions based on their strengths and interests, while also educating employers on how to provide effective accommodations and support.
These paid placements can last up to six months (approximately 1,040 hours) and span roles in IT, creative services, administration, data, writing, and more. This program is best suited for individuals located in California who are looking for longer-term, in-person work experience with ongoing coaching.
1. The Neurodiversity Alliance’s Paid Internship Program
The Neurodiversity Alliance offers over 50 paid national leadership internship opportunities for neurodivergent students and recent graduates ages 18 to 26. Leaders get the opportunity to work alongside national staff mentors and peers from across the country to advance our mission in meaningful ways, while developing core leadership and professional skills for life.
Throughout the year, interns are supported by mentors who understand neurodivergent learning styles and are part of a peer community that shares similar lived experiences.
A highlight of the program is the opportunity to attend the National Neurodiversity Leadership Summit in August 2026, where interns meet in person for hands-on training, content creation, collaboration, and leadership development (all travel and event expenses are covered by The Neurodiversity Alliance).
Every one of these programs is doing something important to make internships more accessible and more supportive for neurodivergent students. Some offer hands-on STEM experience, and others open doors to corporate careers, workplace training, or long-term professional placements. The best choice is the one that fits how you think, what you enjoy, and where you want to grow.
If you’re neurodivergent, between 18-26, and are looking for an internship where you can show up as yourself, build real skills, and do work that actually matters, The Neurodiversity Alliance Internship Program was created with you in mind. Applications open February 15, 2026.
