The Resident Advisor will work with national staff members to ensure our National Summit runs smoothly and participants have a positive experience. Event Logistics Coordinators work behind the scenes at our National Neurodiversity Leadership Summit to ensure a seamless event. Additionally, they become beloved members of the ND Alliance community by contributing positively to the National Summit activities, while supporting as role models, problem solvers, and team players.
Our National Summit is held at the University of Denver in Denver, CO where over 250 young adult leaders, staff, board members and community partners attend to build community and leadership skills through workshops, social events, and inspiring seminars with leading role models from the national stage.
Resident Advisors support by facilitating an environment within the residence halls that contributes to the overall intellectual, social, physical, moral, and cultural environment of the National Summit.
Resident Advisor’s responsibilities may include:
- Fostering a fun and safe environment for all student participants in the residence halls
- Serving on-call each night from 8 pm-8 am for activities, room checks, lockouts, safety or security concerns, conflict resolution, or general problem-solving and student support
- Enforce various policies including substance-free residence halls, quiet hours, and high school student curfews in collaboration with a team.
- Plan and facilitate nightly games and activities to foster social connections and community amongst student attendees in collaboration with a team.
- Serving as a highly visible mentor and resource for student attendees throughout the week
- Role modeling expectations of living in the residence hall while being a support to attendees
Role-Specific Qualifications
- 18 years of age by August 1, 2025
- Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with energy and creativity
- Energetic, entrepreneurial, hardworking, and fun
- Experience with first aid, counseling, and emergency response or crisis management is preferred for all roles
Commitment & Responsibilities
The Resident Advisor position is a 1-week commitment beginning August 4, 2025 and ending August 11, 2025. During this commitment, you will be expected to:
- Attend the National Neurodiversity Leadership Summit from August 6-10, 2025.
- Travel, meals, and expenses paid for by The Neurodiversity Alliance.
- Event Interns will be able to attend sessions related to their own leadership development as an attendee and will also be required to work to fulfill logistic requirements. Exact sessions to attend will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
