The Programming & Events intern team focuses on the growth and sustainability of the national network by providing mentorship to student leaders, planning high-impact events, and fostering community connection.
All internship positions are a 10-month commitment beginning August 1, 2026, and concluding at the end of May 2027. As a core part of the experience, every intern will attend the National Neurodiversity Leadership Summit in Denver, CO, where you will meet your cohort in person, receive specialized training, and help facilitate our flagship national event.
Program Resource Specialist (formerly Research Fellows)
- Summary: Resource Specialists create the digital and physical tools—such as guides, activities, and training modules—that empower students to lead successful chapters.
- Qualifications: Strong writing skills, creativity, and a deep understanding of the student experience.
- Focus Areas: Ideal for those interested in Training & Online Courses or designing Resources & Activities.
- Project Example: Designing a comprehensive toolkit that walks student leaders through the steps of hosting a local event.
Event Coordinator
- Summary: Event Specialists facilitate connection by researching and planning gatherings that range from digital webinars to the flagship National Summit.
- Qualifications: Strong research and organizational skills with an eye for current trends in neurodiversity advocacy.
- Focus Areas: Opportunities to specialize in Virtual Events or National Summit (Keynote/Session planning).
- Project Example: Researching and proposing a lineup of potential keynote speakers and interactive sessions for a national conference.
Outreach Coordinator
- Summary: These coordinators serve as the front line for growth and community health, identifying new leaders and supporting existing chapter relationships.
- Qualifications: Friendly and professional communication skills with an interest in community building or sales.
- Focus Areas: Roles focus on recruitment of Middle & High Schools or Colleges & Universities.
- Project Example: Hosting virtual interest sessions for potential student leaders or moderating high-traffic community spaces in the app.
Leadership Coach
- Summary: Leadership Coaches manage the social health of our organization by facilitating a group-based support model. They build and moderate peer-led ecosystems—where student leaders can share resources, solve common challenges, and feel connected to other students in our national movement.
- Qualifications: Strong group facilitation skills, interest in leading in our national community, and the ability to moderate digital spaces with a focus on neuro-inclusive social dynamics.
- Focus Areas:
- Online Network: Focuses on managing our online platform, fostering peer-to-peer engagement, and creating “community wins.”
- Chapter Network: Focuses on “cohort” support, hosting group workshops, and connecting chapter leaders to one another for collaborative success.
- Project Examples:
- Designing and hosting monthly roundtable discussions, facilitating high-energy weekly events, launching interactive contests, and more to create the infrastructure where leaders help each other and connect on an ongoing basis as they lead their communities and participate in national campaigns.
- Designing and monitoring a community health dashboard to identify group participation trends and identify which cohorts need an engagement boost or celebratory shout-out.
Program Coordinator
- Summary: Program Coordinators manage high-touch initiatives that provide students with direct opportunities for personal growth and advocacy.
- Qualifications: Passion for mentorship or public speaking and the ability to coach peers through professional milestones.
- Focus Areas: Leading initiatives like Speaking Engagements or Mentoring
- Project Example: Coaching a student ambassador for a presentation or guiding a chapter through mentoring program requirements.
