Position Description

Operations & Event Specialists work behind the scenes alongside national staff mentors to prepare for and run the National Neurodiversity Leadership Summit, participating in the hands-on logistics and planning of the event. Our National Neurodiversity Leadership Summit is held at the University of Denver in Denver, CO where approximately 250+ students, alumni, staff, and community partners attend to build leadership skills through workshops, community building, and working with leading role models from the national stage.

Tasks related to planning and executing our National Summit may include booking flights and coordinating travel arrangements, assigning dorm rooms, coordinating meals, ordering supplies, communicating with vendors, data entry and database management, technology set-up and support, developing event surveys, responding to questions and requests from students and families, and more.

This role requires strong executive functioning and project management skills and a passion for creative problem solving and fitting the puzzle pieces together. Operations Specialists may also take on specialized roles and responsibilities aligned with their interests and in support of our overall internal operations, such as database and systems management.

Role-Specific Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with managing complex projects including setting priorities, managing resources, navigating challenges, and meeting and/or exceeding goals
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail needed to manage a busy schedule, email inbox, and task lists
  • Creative & resourceful problem solver
  • Prior experience or interest in large-scale event planning, operations, human resources, travel coordination, or similar logistics-related roles.

Commitment & Responsibilities

  • The Operations & Event Specialist position is a 2-month commitment beginning June 15, 2025 and continuing until August 15, 2025. During this commitment, you will be expected to:
    • Attend weekly 60-minute virtual meetings – date/time to be determined
    • Dedicate up to 10 additional hours per week to meet their assigned goals.
    • Attend the National Neurodiversity Leadership Summit from August 6-10, 2025.
      • Travel, meals, and expenses paid for by The Neurodiversity Alliance.
      • Operations Specialists will be able to attend sessions related to their own leadership development as an attendee and will also be required to work to fulfill logistic requirements. Exact sessions will be determined on a case by case basis.

Finalists will be selected to participate in a follow-up interview via Zoom with members of The Neurodiversity Alliance team beginning April 15, 2025. All applicants will be notified of a final decision no later than May 16, 2025.
