Chapter Leader, Mentoring

Academic Year (10 Months)

Description

At new and returning chapters each year, mentoring connects communities of neurodivergent middle school students with communities of neurodivergent high school and college role models who cultivate transformational empowerment. By sharing and celebrating your lived experiences of being neurodivergent, you open a door for other young people to develop positive identities as neurodivergent learners. As Mentors and Mentees discuss resilience and self-advocacy in a supportive community of peers, the shame and self-stigma that can color the experience of learning differently can transform into strengths-based recognition of being neurodivergent.

Chapter Leaders are responsible for leading The Neurodiversity Alliance’s Eye to Eye Mentoring Program each week at their mentoring site. This position will work closely with our Program Manager for Mentoring & Special Initiatives as well as their local Chapter Advisor, Mentee School Sponsors, and/or In-House Advisor to facilitate curriculum and discussion for Mentors and Mentees during their weekly Art Room. Chapter Leaders also assist with Mentor recruitment and training, and any varied logistical needs of the Art Room to ensure the program is implemented successfully.

  • Prior involvement in Eye to Eye Mentoring,  ND Alliance Club, or other program/leadership roles through The Neurodiversity Alliance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and comfortability with being a go-to resource for Mentors, Mentees, and others involved with their chapter.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize, multitask, and take initiative to solve problems and complete projects independently within deadlines.
