With my neurodivergent super-powers like hyper-focus, determination, compassion, and creativity combined with my unique perspective as a transgender man, I’m eager to embrace the challenges and opportunities of nursing and to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others.

Growing up in Texas, Max often felt like a puzzle piece from the wrong box, struggling to find the words to describe feelings of confusion, loneliness, and frustration. Coming out as a trans man was difficult, and at the same time, he was diagnosed with ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, and later OCD. School was overwhelming, but he worked to find ways to navigate his unique learning style in overstimulating environments. Now, Max is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with the goal of becoming a floor leader at a top children’s hospital. For him, nursing is about more than a career—it’s about purpose, connection, and care. Having benefited from seeing role models who shared his experiences, he hopes to be that same source of inspiration for others, proving that neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ individuals belong in every space, including healthcare.
