Autism Spectrum Disorder

As a family, we've learned to be advocates and listen to neurodivergent perspectives.  I equipped myself with an understanding of neurodiversity through earning opportunities to work with neurodivergent and contribute to the disability community. I engaged with social media and work created by disabled activists and medical professionals to ensure that I can be the best advocate for my siblings, other neurodivergent, and me.

Izzy is pursuing a combined bachelor’s and master’s program in Occupational Therapy. Born non-speaking and diagnosed with autism at two years old, her journey has been deeply shaped by her siblings, who are also autistic and have high support needs. While she has the privilege of verbal communication and independence, she witnessed firsthand the unique challenges her siblings faced in education, sensory processing, and daily life. Taking on responsibilities beyond those of a typical middle child, she views her brother and sister as both role models and equals.
