2025 Scholarship Recipient

Alexis L.

She/Her
Central Lakes College, MN
ADHD/ADD, Dyslexia

With my ADHD I am always busy and multitasking and you won’t see me just sitting around I like to stay busy and get my work done. With my dyslexia I must study harder and work harder and may have to reread everything multiple times, but I am studying even harder than an average person with no learning disability. That shows how determined I am and shows I am not giving up I never let my disability defined who I am, I defined myself.

A mother of two, Alexis is a dedicated healthcare professional with a passion for patient care. Diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD, they have faced challenges but also discovered strengths that have shaped their journey. Their love for healthcare began when they cared for their grandmother, inspiring them to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN). Now pursuing their registered nursing (RN) degree, they are committed to making a difference in patients’ lives. While earning their LPN, they were an active member of the nursing club and made the Dean’s List. They believe their neurodiversity offers unique advantages, helping them approach problem-solving and patient care with empathy and resilience.
