Neurodiversity Is… A Movement Worth Celebrating
As Learning Disabilities Awareness Month comes to a close, we’re reflecting on the incredible momentum behind our “Neurodiversity Is…” campaign, a month-long celebration of the voices, strengths, and stories that make up our neurodiverse community.
Across campuses, classrooms, and online spaces, students, educators, staff, and allies came together to answer one simple question: What does neurodiversity mean to you?

Celebrating Neurodiversity Through Student and Community Voices
From creativity and resilience to authenticity, community, and hope for the future, the words shared throughout October painted a vibrant picture of what it means to think and learn differently.
Through videos, photos, and on-campus activities, our community reminded the world that neurodiversity isn’t something to fix - it’s something to celebrate.
And if you want to see the movement in action, check out the videos we posted this month - here, here, and here!
Campaign by the Numbers
This year’s “Neurodiversity Is…” campaign reached new heights, both online and on campus:
- 20+ awareness events were held by clubs and chapters across the country.
- 15 schools and campuses across the country participated
- 13 events were hosted throughout October on the ND Alliance app
- 416 total attendees joined in person and virtually
Each event served as a reminder that advocacy begins in our classrooms, our conversations, and our communities.
Advancing Learning Disabilities Awareness Through Action
The campaign extended beyond social media to spark real change and connection.
We hosted two national virtual events that inspired hundreds to reflect and connect:
- “What Neurodiversity Means to Us” - a student-led panel, featuring Kayla Dumas, Caden Jorgens, Christina Dowd, Myles Cobb, shared their stories and insights.
- “How to Unmask and Be Your Authentic Self” - led by Carly Priest, National Director of Programs, focused on embracing identity and living authentically.
Celebrity Ambassador Eva from Survivor 48 Joins the Movement
We were thrilled to have Eva Erickson from Survivor 48, an ND Alliance Celebrity Ambassador, join this year’s campaign by sharing her word: “Everywhere.”
Her message perfectly captured the spirit of our movement — a reminder that neurodiversity exists in every space, and that representation matters.
Keep the Movement Going
This campaign may have wrapped, but the movement doesn’t stop here.
Now, we’re turning awareness into opportunity through The Neurodiversity Scholarship — the largest national program supporting students who learn and think differently.
If you’re a neurodivergent student between the ages of 16–26, apply today and share your story with us. Learn more and apply at thendalliance.org/scholarships.
Together, we’re building a future where every 1 in 5 feels seen, supported, and celebrated.
