What: Dyslexia Advocacy Day builds support for the dyslexic community and those with related learning disabilities. We share strategies and experiences, and feature legislative solutions.
Who: Allies include parents, students, advocates, educators, and legislators throughout New York State.
Why: With only 35% of our fourth graders reading proficiently, we are leaving far too many students behind. Dyslexia is common – in every class of 30 students, 5 or 6 of them have dyslexia, but most of them will not be identified for years, and many never are. Let’s work together to change that.
Students can receive letters from Assemblymember Simon for their school, noting that this is an excused absence.
